Ecosmart Tulip

Being able to recycle and separate your waste efficiently is one thing, creating an attractive recycling bin is quite another. Tulip proves that Bleijh does not agree with this statement at all. Logically streamlining the functionality resulted in an amorphous form that is reminiscent of a flower.

The Smartbin

ecosmart smartbin basten leijh design

We collaborated with Ecosmart to redesign a recycling bin. A thorough analysis of the different types of waste has resulted in the Smartbin. As the first product in the field of waste, the Smartbin received the Cradle 2 Cradle certificate.

Frank Dobbelsteijn, directeur Ecosmart:

'Bleijh’s strength? Their creativity. They really can make beautiful objects.'

'The efficient emptying of bins and comprehensive separation of waste. That was the challenge that Bleijh met with The Tulip. This abstract, tulip-shaped bin means that the janitors don’t have to crawl on their knees to collect waste in the bins under every desk and waste is immediately well separated. That adds up to about 20 FTEs in the workplace. And because there is one common bin, there is more social incentive to recycle waste properly.'
